Specific prevention profiles are Check Ups designed to investigate any risk factors early and address specific health needs. The cardiovascular prevention profile includes the preliminary medical examination and the concluding examination, carried out by the Check Up Coordinating Physician.

Cardiovascular diseases are a diverse group of diseases that includes ischemic diseases of the heart, such as acute myocardial infarction and angina pectoris, and cerebrovascular diseases, such as ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. They represent the leading causes of disability and mortality in Italy, and they affect not only men, as is widely believed, but also women, particularly after menopause.

Cardiovascular diseases are largely preventable as they recognize, alongside non-modifiable risk factors (age, sex, and family history), also modifiable factors related to behaviors and lifestyles (smoking, alcohol, poor diet, sedentary lifestyle) and may be associated with diabetes, obesity, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertension. Therefore, it is important to adopt healthy lifestyles and control recognize early and keep under control any factors that greatly increase the risk of occurrence of these diseases.

Preparation for the examination

12-hour fasting. With a full bladder, collect a sample* of the first morning urine discarding the first cast.

* For urine, use disposable containers provided free of charge at Fanfani centers or available at pharmacies.
